Google Calendar Template

The Google calendar template lets you display up to five pre-existing Google calendars. To use the template:

  1. Choose the default view for your calendar: Month, Week, Day, List
  2. Add one or more calendars:
    1. Enter a calendar name/label.
    2. Enter the Calendar ID.
    3. To find your calendar ID:
      1. Log in to Google Calendar
      2. On the left, find "My calendars"
      3. Hover over the calendar name you want to use and click the down arrow to open the menu
      4. Click "Calendar settings"
      5. Your Calendar ID is in the "Calendar Address" section
    4. Choose a calendar color from the drop-down menu (blue, green, purple, gray, or orange).
  3. Adjust each separate Google calendar setting to allow event details to be viewed by all users:
    1. Choose Settings and sharing
    2. Scroll down to Access permissions for events and check both boxes to make available to Public and UCSD
    3. These settings do not give users access to edit, only to view the calendar — unless you add editing permissions separately in the "sharing" area of Settings. Public access allows users to see current calendar events even when they're not logged in.
